New Guidance Note for lawyers
There has been recent public and media commentary across Australia in relation to concerns about referral fees and ‘claim farming’ involving members of the legal profession. The Board has become aware that some Tasmanian lawyers and law practices have been approached to pay a fee to a third party for the referral of clients. In an effort to assist Tasmanian practitioners ensure they are conducting themselves appropriately, the Board has developed, in consultation with the Law Society, a guidance note for the profession.
You can access the guidance note, along with other policies, rules and guidelines here.
